Welcome To The Ungovernable States Of America

It used to be that America had a two party system, where Democrats and Republicans had clear, distinct, idological differences, but they could set aside those differences to work together for the common good of the nation when necessary.

However, over the last thirty-odd years, there's been a change in the two-party system, and that change has become even more apparent in the last six years. Both political parties have become unrecognizable as separate political parties, and have become an amalgamated mass which supports the Dick Cheney-inspired political doctrine of "permanent war, permanent revolution", and has given their tacit approval the the criminal conduct which this administration has committed with more boldness and audacity than ever before.

Witness the weak, cowardly whimpering which the Democrats have been doing when it comes to defunding the IraqNam War. They whine, cry and play the "victim" when it comes to defunding this war because they don't want to look like they're not "supporting the troops", when they were elected for the purpose of ENDING the war, not continuing it indefinitely, and allowing it to spill over into Iran.

This Democratic spinelessness continued when it comes to the matter of impeaching Cheney and Bush for the myriad of crimes against the American people, the Iraqi people and all of humanity. The Democrats won a mid-term election they really didn't want to win, and instead of acting on the mandate to end the war and conduct a double impeachment which they were given during the 2006 mid-term election, the Democrats frittered away their opportunity to act boldly to enact the clearly defined will of the people.

We now have a situation where the Democratic and Republican parties are unable and unwilling to fact the serious issues which the nation faces, including the impending blowout of the current financial system.

Even when it comes to such vital issues such as the recent no-confidence vote against AG Gonzales, what happens? The House and the Senate collapse like a house of cards, because of political posturing, childish games of political brinksmanship and infighting, and when they're called on the carpet by their constituents for their failure to act, everyone whines "I can't do it, because there aren't enough votes..." or some other lame excuse.

In the meantime, local and state Democratic Party branches, and state and local legislatures are passing legislation which call for the impeachment of Cheney and Bush, but these efforts seem to bounce off the consciousnesses of the members of the House and Senate with little impact.

All the while, the American people grow angrier with the conduct of both political parties, and have threatened to create a third political party, which they see as the answer to their justifiable frustration with and anger toward a two party system which has degenerated into a one party system which supports war, criminal activity, the gutting of the U.S. military, the loss of the nation's industrial base, and the marginalization of the lower 85% of family income brackets.

These actions have sent the U.S. into an ungovernable state, which will worsen if there isn't a wholesale change in how the political parties operate, and the type of leaders who head these parties. This will mean that the American people must become politically literate in order to understand how the American political system actually works, and once they own that knowledge, they can go out and challenge the jaded, cynical, faded mandarins who control both political parties.

It comes down to this ... if we want our Constitution back, if we want our country back, then... all of us have got to step up and fight to wrest them back from the current (and wanna-be) criminals who masquerade themselves as "our government".
