Impeach Bush and Cheney,
and Happy Potomac Tuesday!
Impeach Bush and Cheney. While more and more folks are getting sucked into the Presidential Election Game and making declarations of commitment, and finding more and more excuses to drift away from the efforts to pursue Impeachment; And becoming increasingly sarcastic, even abrasive towards one another in their groups, all I can say is that they have been sucked up in the Big System Vacuum of excuses in the whooshing sound of surrender. Others have not and like Bush we are prepared to stay the course and continue the battle. If we don’t we might all as well curl up on a comfortable sofa and watch mindless reality TV and let this country go completely to hell.
Let’s face it boys and girls; we don’t have a candidate in the running that is worth a damn. And, Oh that we have to support someone, you know the lesser of the evils bullshit. Evil is evil, corrupt is corrupt and buzz word change is a crock!
They all are being purchased as we speak. I know there are those who want “The First Woman President” and I would to, but I want a woman of integrity. I know there are those who long for the best attributes of the Bill Clinton years, and so do I. I know there are those who want “The First Afro America President”, and I would like to see that too, but I’m not blinded by the style, charisma and hopeful words of change to believe we have found our next Kennedy or savior.
And McCain…hell we’ll be in Iraq until every opponent is dead and every oil well has been run dry, and the damn thing is; we Democrats have figured out a way to hand the election to him by killing ourselves off in internal political fighting that is even going to get worse, and if you believe for a moment that the looser will be supporting the victor after his/her concession speech you are truly suffering from denial and the classic “Ostrich Syndrome”.
And Huckster Huckabee is going to be around until he is tossed the bone to suck the far religious right into their usual place of promise and betrayal. They are not fast learners, just loud pains in the posterior.
So how about the issue of holding criminals accountable instead of simply walking away and saying:”Oh It’s not going to happen, so why not do something else”. I have a suggestion as to what those folks can do…quite inappropriate for inclusion here!
People talk about commitment to one thing or another, as for me I would rather see the commitment of a Hubert Humphrey or Eugene McCarty and all the truly patriotic Americans who were in the streets in the 60s, and who did cause things to change. Those were my Americans and they still are.
We have more implied promises dangling from the buzz of “change” that should 1.2 of them be realized we would have a new FDR…not going to happen boys and girls!
So Hillary is a hypocrite kicking her girl friend Patti Solis to the curd in her obsession to be “First” first, and Barack is Bombast personified, Huckabee is a Huckster and McCain is the “Mean Machine” and the entire mess is on the way to total divisiveness; that means it OK to screw a nation like Bush and Cheney have, that it’s OK to defy every law you don’t care to follow, and people are retiring from the struggle feeling that they have their bit, done their best and that it’s time to move on; then they had best move quickly before the big screwing catches up with them!

Conyers douses impeachment rumors
On Thursday, Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, met with two activists from Code Pink. The women had earlier been at a hearing involving Attorney General Michael Mukasey wearing shirts calling for impeachment. According to Ellen Taylor, who was in the meeting, he made some “tantalizing” comments about holding hearings to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. The women left the meeting thinking that the option was open. Word spread to the blogosphere and has been picked up by lefty activist groups.
Judiciary Committee member Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) will deliver a letter this Friday signed by 17 members of Congress—and three committee members—asking Conyers to hold impeachment hearings, his spokesman Josh Rogin said.
Conyers, though, isn’t budging, despite his Code Pink coyness. “There will be no impeachment hearings,” said spokeswoman Karen Morgan.
“We’re not giving up. We’re continuing to push,” said Rogin, who added that his boss is in talks with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Conyers about bringing contempt resolutions to the floor against White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten and former White House Counsel Harriet Miers. Democrats had sidelined the resolutions in the service of the bipartisan stimulus bill.
Conyers is scheduled to meet again tonight with a Code Pink activist, Leslie Angeline, said the group.
"Congressman John Conyers' telephone, by many reports, rang endlessly on Monday, approximately 60 times per minute, or as fast as people could get through. The same thing appears to be happening today (Tuesday).
If you try to get through at 202-225-5126, chances are you'll hear a busy signal. Other times it will simply ring forever until a recorded voice tells you "Your party is not answering, please try your call later." Some people have had better luck by calling the Capitol Hill switchboard at 202-224-3121 or through one of the toll-free numbers that activist groups use, and asking to be connected to John Conyers' office. Others have just run into busy signals that way too.
If you are lucky, you will get through to a staffer, and by all reports they are very, very cheerful staffers glad that you called, no matter where in the country you live.
Emailing the Congressman is out, because he has stopped accepting Emails, at least at this address john.conyers@mail.house.gov . I could tell you some of his staff members' Email addresses, but then they wouldn't be able to work for a week.
Faxing the Congressman is very much in, but you have to set your fax machine to repeatedly redial until it gets through. The fax number is 202-225-0072.
You can also try these alternatives. Call Conyers' Judiciary Committee office at 202-225-3951. Or call his Detroit, Mich., office at 313-961-5670 or his Trenton, Mich., office at 734-675-4084."
Conyers' Phone Rings Steadily for Two Days

Call John Conyers at 202-225-5126, 202-224-3121, 202-225-3951, 313-961-5670, or 734-675-4084. Fax 202-225-0072.
There's a new rule on Capitol Hill: the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee can remove impeachment from the Constitution, but cannot also use telephones, Email, or fax machines, because the flood of pro-impeachment communications from outraged citizens is overwhelming each of those devices. Don't believe me? Try phoning, Emailing, or faxing John Conyers' office.

If you do get through, be prepared to hear that impeachment hearings are not happening, but hearings into impeachable offenses are. Even though these non-impeachment hearings will not make it onto television, and Conyers is not even announcing them ahead of time, and even though witnesses will refuse to show up, Conyers' staffers will try to tell you that hearings of the sort they've done for the past 13 months are all that's needed.
Hmm. If that were true, would the phone be ringing the way it is?
Over 20 people are refusing to eat until Conyers begins impeachment hearings for Dick Cheney: http://afterdowningstreet.org/fasting
Nine members of the Judiciary Committee and dozens of members of Congress agree with the public that Conyers should perform his constitutional duty and begin impeachment hearings. On Friday Congressman and Committee Member Robert Wexler will deliver a sign-on letter to Conyers urging him to begin Cheney impeachment hearings.
Tuesday evening Conyers has agreed to meet with Leslie Angeline to discuss the possibility. Angeline is a member of Code Pink. Her father was a rider on the original Freedom Ride bus that was fire bombed in Alabama in 1961. She is fasting for impeachment. For her sake, if nothing else, set your phone on redial and have faith that you will get through. Consider making it a daily routine.
Sen. Jim Webb Suggests Legal Action Against Bush On Iraq

Dear Ed,
Last week when Attorney General Michael Mukasey was asked point blank by House Judiciary Committee Chair John Conyers if he was ready to start a criminal investigation of the use of waterboarding by the CIA, Mukasey's response was unequivocal: "No, I am not."
In a further exchange with the committee, Mukasey said he would not investigate the Bush Administration's use of illegal warrantless wiretapping. He also said he would not enforce Contempt of Congress citations served against the Bush Administration.
When the nation's top law enforcement officer refuses to investigate possibly criminal acts by the Administration, when the President signs bills into law with provisos attached saying he won't abide by the part of the law that he doesn't like, when the President and his advisors are in contempt of Congress, what can Congress do? Congress can launch IMPEACHMENT proceedings.
After Mukasey's appearance, two members of CODEPINK met with Conyers to press the case for Impeachment. He told them there was fear among the Democratic leadership of political blowback from such a course of action. In response, Leslie Evangeline launched a fast to pressure Conyers into starting impeachment proceedings against Dick Cheney, a man whose approval ratings hover below 20% and whose impeachment would be unlikely to spawn popular sympathy for the Administration.
Won't you support Leslie in her fast by contacting Conyers today to call for impeachment? Tell him that we want our elected representatives to stand up for the Constitution and against a lawless administration. Tell him if he doesn't hold the Administration accountable for its contempt of Congress, the people will feel nothing but CONTEMPT FOR CONGRESS.
You can join Leslie and others in their fast by clicking here!
Chairman Conyers needs to hear from us NOW!
Call him at 202-225-5126 or Fax 202-225-0072
Enough Already, Go work to Impeach or prepare for Denver in The Streets!
